The term "Au Pair" comes from French and means "by mutual agreement." Both parties must benefit from this relationship or arrangement. The goal of a stay as an Au Pair is for young foreigners to improve their language skills and general knowledge while getting to know the host country better. The participant must integrate into the culture and language by living with a foreign family. According to the rules of the destination country, young people traveling through the program must assist with household tasks, including taking care of the children, while having enough time to learn about the local lifestyle and culture. In return, the family provides them with a room, meals, and pays a salary, considering them a temporary member rather than domestic help, ensuring that the young person improves their language skills in an academic institution and participates in cultural activities.
